According to, the definition of perseverance is as follows:

1. steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., esp. in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.
2. Theology . continuance in a state of grace to the end, leading to eternal salvation.

Resisting the urge to roll into a long diatribe of cascading thoughts filled with rambling anecdotal evidence supporting the pro’s and con’s of sticking to an end goal, dream, or vision I’ll instead focus on the “immediate.” Keeping focused on going one step at a time, one after the other, walking down easy sidewalks during some periods and walking through fire at others. Its when we’re walking through fire where we make the choice to keep going, one step after another, resisting fear and that opportunity to turn around OR to keep moving forward, at the point of feeling breakdown and by staying focused on what the desired outcome… that is perseverance.
