Identity and Integrity

I’m a pretty big proponent of anyone who wants to create a home based business, that they should definitely make a little plan and hop on the opportunity of creating a business that fits the flavor of their personality.
Whether you’re promoting Gold and Silver,  Avon, or just building birdhouse kits and selling them at the craft fairs building these businesses let you explore the opportunity to create a business and income outside of the scope of your “normal” identity.

Something that has stood out to me over the years and more so in recent times is the tactics used in building business or to attract others to the business show a low form of honesty or integrity. Baiting tactics such as fake phone conversations or the use of obnoxious hype like a pitchman would use are some that seem to be showing up more and more as ‘norm’. While this tactic presents a short term gain for those who are using them, the gains will be short lived as there is no genuine relationship built up between the pitchman and the client.

A true lesson in a more tried and proven form of business built upon integrity and honesty can be seen among people whose businesses are still generating business at times when others are closing their doors. The time they’ve spent creating relationships, shaking hands and truly networking with people with integrity and honesty stands the true test of time as you’ve earned the trust of those who wish to do business with you. It’s not an easy route to take, it takes time and persistence, yet the long term gains will always beat the short term returns.
